Why I love Trex

There are many great materials for building decks, and all of them have the potential to create something spectacular. But my favorite product for deck design and construction is the environmentally-friendly Trex Pro line of products. There are many reasons why I love Trex, but to summarize I would say it’s the combination of innovation and excellence combined with exceptional customer service.

On the innovation side they have a complete decking system. It begins with the framing, includes a wide variety of materials for the decking surface, and extends to railings and even lighting. They are environmentally conscious and work hard to be responsible in their manufacturing process.

The framing is made from 100% recyclable metals that will outlast and outperform a wood frame. Their composite deck surfacing materials exceed industry slip rating expectations, so they provide even more traction than the best wood surfaces when wet.

They have incredible lighting systems that are built right into the materials with LED lights that last a lifetime. On top of that, Trex composite materials can be shaped into beautiful curved surfaces which is not really possible with any other material.

They have local reps and regional reps that really look after their customers. If my customers ever have any questions that I can’t answer, or if they really need an expert’s opinion on materials or technical data, I can call on my Trex rep and he’ll go over all that information in detail to satisfy the client.

Trex also has and amazing warranty — a full 25 years — and they’ve always honored their warranty.

This company pioneered composite decking and has the most experience in this field, so their warranty really counts for something. I know that they can back up their warranty because they are large, publicly traded company that is very likely to still be around and stronger than ever 20 years from now. Some competitors claim equally long warranties on paper, but they are small firms — usually privately owned — that simply woudn’t be able to deal with an issue if many customers had a warranty problem at the same time. Trex can.

Trex only sells decking related products. Competitors might be diversified manufacturers selling a variety of products, so decks are not their only business. With Trex it is decks and only decks. They’re passionate about great decks and they keep pushing the envelope to create newer, better ways to build decks.

I love the fact that Trex has a proven track record and a passion for decks that puts them ahead of the pack when it comes to excellence and long-term customer service.
